This event will be a "Vinyl Potluck" meaning our dance music will be created the old-fashioned way from vinyl records played on turntables (which is becoming a new trend!). And we will co-create the music menu together in "potluck" style, with our designated DJs hosting our menu and the guests bringing one or more records with favourite dance songs to share. We will explore reconnecting with special music from the past and sharing it with others, just like we might delight in sharing a dish made from a favorite recipe with friends. As with all danceXchanges, we will open and close with a brief circle to support our collective intentions for this event and share ideas for ones to come. The event is free of charge, free of drugs and alcohol, and open to everyone who wants to come together and share healthful movement in fun ways. Please remember to bring your water bottles and a favourite record! If you don't have any records, no problem, we will have extras for you to browse and pick songs from! And if you are able to bring a light snack to share (finger food that doesn't require kitchen use), that will be welcome. Most importantly, just bring YOU. For any questions, please contact Kelly at kelly_bannister@telus.net

More about danceXchange (a community collaborative that fosters positive change through dance and intentional movement):

danceXchange is a new community-based dance initiative on Thetis. The group holds regular (approx. monthly) educational dance and movement events for people of all ages and genders with goals of fostering inclusion, connection, healthful movement and fun!

We take turns teaching or facilitating with a cooperative approach to sharing, learning, and co-creating together in a welcoming drug-free and alcohol-free space. Our intention is to exchange with each other to foster positive change through dance and intentional movement. The name "danceXchange" evokes the idea of both "dance exchanges" and being "changed by dance." Everyone who likes our shared goals is welcome. danceXchange is currently energy-boosted by Kelly Bannister kelly_bannister@telus.net
