TIRRA July 23rd GM Update

A sincere thank you to all who attended yesterday's meeting.
There were 60+ in attendance which was a good turnout for a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
Fifteen individuals shared their personal views on Solid Waste management, taking the time to be thoughtful and articulate about their belief on the how the system should operate going forward. The meeting attendees, both those who chose to speak, and those who listened, were respectful of opposing views.

TIRRA Members and Property Owners in attendance approved a User Pay Recycle System. More information in coming days.

Thanks again for those who attended and demonstrated their interest in being part of community driven solutions.

Forbes Hall Health Services: News!

This week we have had some very encouraging news.  Thetis has been given a twice weekly Nurse Practitioner’s position.  We will be sharing this full-time position with Stz’uminus Nation.  Key to having a Nurse Practitioner on-island will be having someone apply for the job!

We are posting this today, not only because it’s great news, but in the off chance someone knows of a Nurse Practitioner looking for a new job placement.  Please see the Job Posting: https://islandhealth.hua.hrsmart.com/hr/ats/Posting/view/163810

Recently we were given the go-ahead to be a Virtual Care Centre, which should be up and running within the next month, with support from TICF in funding the necessary equipment (more information about how to access this care, soon!).

Our team will continue to work towards reducing the need for islanders to travel for medical care.

Volunteer Needed: TICA & TIVFD Garbage & Recycling Haul

The Thetis Island Community Association and Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department are looking for someone to regularly take the garbage, returnables and recycling from Forbes Hall and the Firehall on Mission Rd.  The main two volunteers that have been removing it during the past years are ending that part of their contribution to the build of Forbes Hall, and for one, the Fire Hall, as well.

Bi-weekly pick-ups will work, and you will be contacted if an extra haul is needed.
Thank you to Ron Bannister and Bill Dickie for all the work they have done.

Please contact Ann Dickie at 250-246-4079 or info@forbeshall.ca
