Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has announced that invitations are now being sent out for second doses of COVID-19 vaccines at 8 weeks from the time of the first dose being administered.

Island Health conducted a whole community clinic for age 80+ residents of Thetis Island in March, and therefore residents who were vaccinated at that time should be receiving invitations to book second doses. If you are over age 80 and had your first dose more than eight weeks ago, but have not received a notification to book your second dose by Saturday, May 29, you may not be registered in the provincial vaccination booking system. Please register by going to www.GetVaccinated.gov.bc.ca or call 1-833-838-2323 for support.

Island Health’s immunization teams will return to Thetis Island to provide second doses, along with first doses for those who have not yet been vaccinated including 12-17 year olds.
We will hold a second dose clinic in your community before July 1. Once the date is confirmed, we will notify the community at least 48 hours before we open for booking into these clinics.

Residents who have received notification they are eligible for their second dose are encouraged to wait to book when the clinics take place in your community. However, people may choose to try to book earlier into an ongoing clinic in the closest major centre, such as Duncan or Ladysmith.
