Thank-you to the 5 individuals who have offered to open the hall to islanders during power outages. Before this group meets to get organized, we’d really appreciate another person or two to join us.

These volunteers will be oriented in opening and closing the hall, and to the Beverage Station’s equipment and supply. Many of you already know these things due to your participation in events and activities.

There will be factors as to how long you could expect to be at the hall, such as length of the power outage or other commitments. Each shift could be 2-3 hours.

Once we have a team together these details can be sorted.

“Power Out” days at Forbes Hall are congenial with islanders dropping by to enjoy a warm space, with electricity, running water, WiFi, and hot beverages and snacks. A great place to do remote work, read, work on puzzles, play cards, or just visit by the fire.

Last year we saw anywhere from 20 – 60 people using the hall during a power outage. This year we want to be more organized; this is why we’re calling for volunteers.

If you can see yourself volunteering for this community work, please contactinfo@forbeshall.ca
