Wind Storm on Christmas Day

Where: Western sections of Metro Vancouver near the water, Greater Victoria, Southern Gulf Islands, East Vancouver Island, and Sunshine Coast.

When: On Christmas Day, late morning to nighttime.

Hazard:
- Very strong southeast winds at 70 gusting to 90 km/h, and 80 gusting to 100 km/h possible for Greater Victoria, Southern Gulf Islands and Courtenay to Campbell River.

- Travel disruptions
- Strong winds tossing loose objects and damaging outdoor holiday decorations
- Possible power outages

Remarks: A weather system arriving on Christmas Day will bring widespread, very strong southeast winds to the inner South Coast. These very strong southeast winds will be widespread over the South Coast and persist for a long duration.

Winds will gradually ease on Christmas night.
