Pond Safety

Although this cold snap is producing pond ice, it's not safe yet.

We're at about 1/4" thickness now and an inch of ice supports only 50 Lbs.  We need four full inches of ice to be safe.

Aikido Mats

For the kind attention of Forbes Hall users:
The large black and red square mats in the storage room at Forbes Hall belong to our Aikido club. Grant Babin generously purchased the mats with his own money for our club at the crazy cost of almost $50 per mat (about $1500 for all the mats).
While we are open to having the mats used for other appropriate activities at the hall, we respectfully request that users observe our mat etiquette, which is:
(i) Absolutely no shoes on the mats
(ii) Mats should be washed and air dried after each use before being put away
(iii) Due care in assembly and dis-assembly is needed so that the joins are not damaged
(iv) No sharp objects should be used on the mats to prevent gouges and other damage.
We are happy to share but we can't afford new ones and we don't always anticipate the time to clean them before we use them if others leave them dirty.
Thank you for respecting our request.
Any questions can be directed to Kelly Bannister
