This week: Alec's Venture - Dee Smith
My nephew, Alec Lamb, had a plan.....while he was in California he purchased some really great jackets and shirts and other clothing with a variety of sports team logos on them. Tragically, he died before he could carry out the sale of these all new items. They will be on sale on Saturday in the Pavilion at the Community Fair, Forbes Hall. 10 AM to 1 PM, August 24. Proceeds will be donated to charity.

Traffic Stats

Traffic Graphs

Hollingshead Summary

Good morning,

Please see attached BC Ferries traffic for the month of July and a synopsis by Brian Hollingshead below.  As Brian notes below we had a gorgeous rain free month, which unfortunately did not result in increased ridership for Route 20.  Route 20 continues to buck the trend of the rest of the system and for the month we were off -1.86% for passengers, and -2.88% for vehicles, which leaves us at -1.77% for passengers and -2.01% for vehicles year to date for the first 1/3 of the fiscal year.  It will be interesting to see if this trend will be mentioned in the next round of community consultation scheduled for late fall...

Thetis Island AA Meetings

Thetis Island discussion group meets each Monday night at 7 pm in the library at Forbes Hall.

This is an open meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous which lasts for 1 hour. Last week we had 3 men and 3 ladies from the Chemainus group attend our meeting along with our 4 regular members.

Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Eddie Rush - Poster Pup

Friends of Furries is pleased to announce that Eddie Rush is the 2013 Poster Dog for this year’s DNA my dog fundraiser.   Eddie Rush was chosen from several interesting applications for our Poster Dog, and you may see one of them as next year’s poster dog...they’re automatically entered in next year’s contest.  Eddie wins a free DNA my dog profile, and everyone in the community will be able to guess what it says about his family tree.

We asked Keith and Ellen for photos and some background on Eddie...they tell us that Eddie is a Mexican street dog they adopted in Saylulita Mexico 3 years ago and they think he’s about 5 years old.  While they were sleeping, Senor Eddie proved he’s a poet laureate and sent us this information about his life before he came to Thetis Island via his friend Maggie Speelpening of Seattle:
