Hi I am Saffron!
Many of you know me since I’ve lived here since I was a toddler.
I’m now 18 years old and I’m looking to see if anyone on the island has a relatively flat field or space that I could ride my horse on?
I am fully insured for horseback riding and so I would be covered for any accidents or damages etc.
Ideally I’d like to set up jumps and barrels for practicing this show season in a flat area that is at least 100 feet by 50 feet. I would be riding for about an hour or two at a time, two to three times per week.
If it’s a nice enough space that would be easy to work in I would gladly pay to use it, or even trade/barter for chores, labour or whatever you may be looking for.
Thanks for your consideration!

Starting Friday morning and running through until Sunday, we’re hosting “No Ordinary Weekend” at Pioneer Pacific Bible Camp on Thetis Island — and we’d love for you to join us.
Whether you already have a relationship with Jesus or are simply curious about what Christians believe, this weekend is for anyone looking for something real. It’s a chance to explore the foundations of our faith in a way that’s honest, welcoming, and down-to-earth.
We believe that Jesus is not about guilt or religion — He’s about freedom, truth, and a loving relationship with each of us. Come and see why we believe He is our Saviour, and what it means to truly know Him.
There’s no cost to attend. All meals are included, and afternoons are open for rest, reflection, or enjoying the beauty of the island.
No pressure. Just come as you are.

The Province is banning Category 2 (Yard Waste) and Category 3 (machine piles etc.) burning in the Coastal Fire Centre region (includes Thetis Island) at NOON, FRIDAY MAY 30th.
Thetis Island Yard Waste Permits will be cancelled at that time.
Fireworks; as defined in the Fireworks Act;
Binary Exploding Targets;
Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description;
Controlled air incinerators
Air curtain burners; and
Carbonizers
This prohibition does not apply to Category 1 (Campfires) that are a half-metre high by a half-metre wide or smaller, or to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes. Anyone lighting a campfire must maintain a fireguard by removing flammable debris from around the campfire area and have a hand tool or at least 8 litres of water available nearby to properly extinguish the fire. Thetis Island solid fuel Campfire Permits will still be required after May 30th until a complete ban is put in place.
Anyone found in contravention of an open fire prohibition may be issued a Provincial violation ticket for $1,150, required to pay an administrative penalty of up to $10,000 or, if convicted in court, fined up to $100,000 and/or sentenced to one year in jail. If the contravention causes or contributes to a wildfire, the person responsible may be ordered to pay all firefighting and associated costs.
The Coastal Fire Centre covers all the area west of the height of land on the Coast Mountain Range from the U.S.-Canada border at Manning Park, including Tweedsmuir South Provincial Park in the north, the Sunshine Coast, the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and Haida Gwaii.

We want to extend a big thank you to everyone who came out to the launch of the new Sea Life Centre last Saturday at Telegraph Harbour Marina - it was a great success! We’re so grateful to all who attended and to the many people who helped make this special event possible.
We're excited to share that the Sea Life Centre is now open every day for drop-in visits, and every Saturday from 1PM - 3PM we'll have staff on hand and fun activities for all ages. Be sure to check eSPOKES each week for details on that Saturday’s featured activity!
Whenever you visit, we kindly ask that you help us protect our marine ambassadors and keep the Sea Life Centre a safe, respectful space for everyone:
- Maximum of six visitors at a time inside the Sea Life Centre
- Wash your hands in the bucket outside the door to remove lotions, sunscreen, and other contaminants
- Use pinky fingers only when touching the animals in the lower tray
- No hands in the large aquarium
- Please be gentle - no poking or lifting the animals
- Leave the Centre tidy and make sure to close the door behind you
Thank you for your ongoing support - we look forward to seeing you soon!
Warm regards,
Charlotte,
ThINC Education and Stewardship Coordinator

Thank you, Meadow Valley Strata property owners for allowing the Thetis Island public to traverse your private road during the Hydro Lines Down emergency overnight on Pilkey Point Road.
Thetis residents do understand that as owners, you must pay for your gravel road upkeep and that vehicle speeds must be kept to a minimum for safety and road maintenance.
Thank you for opening the gate to allow drivers to get home and also to get to the ferry in the morning.

At Saturday’s TIRRA (Thetis Island Residents and Ratepayers Association) AGM there was some confusion regarding funding for the Ferry Webcam. To clarify, here is some background information.
TICA (Thetis Island Community Association) has provided funding over the years for the webcam and upgrades, with the revenue from the advertisements on the webcam site being a fundraising initiative for TICA.
None of this would be possible without the consent of Capernwray to have the webcam on their property, and Tim French, Veronica Shelford and others for their technical support over the years. The convenience and service the webcam provides is very valuable to the Thetis community.
An upgrade to the webcam was completed in early 2024 and the invoice was paid by TIRRA, with TICA being unaware of either the invoice or payment. With this information now being shared, TICA will pay for the upgrade.
To access the webcam, go to https://www.thetisisland.net/ferry/index.html
With thanks,
TICA Board
