5RHYTHMS Dance Workshop on Thetis

An invitation to a liberating movement practice with guest teacher Chantell Foss...

I have been practicing the 5Rhythms since 2003 and am grateful for the creativity, freedom, well-being and community it has contributed to my life. I was delighted to discover local 5RHYTHMS teacher Chantell Foss and have been attending her classes in Duncan. I was inspired to share this practice with Thetis Islanders and Chantell has graciously accepted the invitation to offer an introduction to the 5RHYTHMS in our community.

Curious? Please read on for workshop details.

Yours in service,

Tatiana

Thetis DanceXchange Presents…

ENTER  - a 5RHYTHMS workshop with Chantell Foss

6-8 pm

January 19, 2019

Forbes Hall

$15 to $20 sliding scale

https://www.chantellfoss.com/workshops.html

We'll use the natural, welcoming process of the 5Rhythms Wave to re-introduce ourselves to ourselves, enter the present moment, and also gently mark our entrance to this newborn year, 2019. Each of the five rhythms contains vast teachings. We'll enter each in turn with simplicity and curiosity, as if stepping from the shores of a stream into the gentle current of the water. Our bodies will be our gateway: 1. we'll breathe and notice our breathing; 2. we'll actively feel our own body as a whole and in its parts; 3. we'll allow movement to arise from our attention to our breathing, sensing bodies... and repeat. Entering, entering, entering...

Practical notes:

- Please wear comfy layers and consider bringing indoor dancing shoes as the floor is cold in winter.

- Young ones (kids) welcome in this dance.

About the 5RHYTHMS

5RHYTHMS is a school of embodiment that spans the world. It's a chance to dance, to meditate, to explore and create. The practice gives each person physical space, time, a musical environment, and guidance to support a process of discovery in real time. No dance or movement experience necessary. Everyone welcome.

About Chantell Foss (Duncan, BC)

Chantell Foss is a mother and former university lecturer and art gallery-museum worker. She fell into yoga and 5RHYTHMS (in 1999 & 2007) as liberators that radically support her ability to pay attention, and to cooperate with reality. She teaches these practices as powerful tools that we can put in our own hands. Her purpose is to encourage and witness others’ growth, paths, and embodied revolutions. You don't need to feel energetic, strong, or ‘together’ to join her classes and workshops. You just need to still be here, breathing.  www.chantellfoss.com
