Successful Vaccination Clinic

Our two-day remote community vaccination clinic was a great success and the countless organizational hours and volunteer work in trying our best to make it run as efficiently as possible paid off.
Over the two days approximately 330 persons received a first shot of the Pfizer vaccine during the 6-hour openings. With the freeing up of more vaccine in the coming weeks, the 2nd Shot Clinic may be available to us by late July or August. The VIHA nurses are keen to return here.
Despite the first day early glitches due to computer problems that caused some waiting in the line for the administrative processing, only one couple was heard to complain, and they can be forgiven because they are new to our island. Many appreciated the coffee & snacks offered post-jab...a service not found at any other vaccine clinic. Thank you TIVFD Firefighters and TIVFD Auxiliary Volunteers and Dr. Michelle Sutter for the nine hour days making this opportunity run as smoothly and safely as it did.
And thank you TICA for allowing VIHA to use our magnificent new community centre facility before it’s officially open. On Wednesday we all appreciated the covered entrance-way during periods of drizzle and on Thursday most people sat out their post-vaccine wait time in the sun on the delightful patio.
A special thank-you to Veronica Shelford who for the past four months has been keeping track and getting out updates to you as we worked to bring this event to fruition. We will let you know when the 2nd Shot clinic is set.
Well done Thetis Island in working together with us for the health and safety of our entire community.
