ThINC Photo Contest Reminder

THINC PHOTO CONTEST REMINDER
A reminder about ThINC's ongoing community photo contest—submit your local edible plant pictures to be included in our updated Thetis Island Edible Foraging Guide! (Located on the ThINC website at https://www.thetisislandnatureconservancy.org) Two photos are required per species; one that shows the entire plant, providing scale and overall shape, and one close-up of the leaves, flowers, fruits, gills, etc. Please refer to the existing handbook photos for examples. Some currently in-season species we are looking for include stinging nettle, broadleaf maple, licorice fern, and common dandelion!
Contest Rules:
- Contest is open until September 20, 2021.
- Any part-time or full-time resident of Thetis Island may enter.
- Entry method – email your photo(s), subject line “Wild Edible Plants and Mushrooms of Thetis Island” to aislinn@thetisislandnatureconservancy.org. Please include your full name and the species depicted.
- Image requirements: JPEG high resolution.
Winners will be contacted by email the week of September 26, and names and winning images announced on the ThINC Facebook page. The updated handbook, complete with new photos and credits, will be posted to the ThINC website in October 2021.
