Fire Hazard

Returning from a short shopping trip my wife Dianne met me at the front door to unload the frozen items.

I did smell smoke but decided it may be some one’s fireplace. Wrong, I followed the smoke to the front of the house and discovered an old stump blazing away. I yelled at my dear wife, “what are you thinking starting a fire?

She said she has been in the house and was never outside.

I quickly began dousing the small blaze with our precious water supply from barrels filled from our gutters. After the fire was flushed out, I discovered it had been started by the suns rise reflecting off some glass decorations placed near the stump. All this happened just after having a conversation with the fire chief earlier in the ferry line up. The conversation was on my discussion on fire permits and the fact that why was Thetis fire rating at high when most others were at moderate.

The Fire Chief knows best.
