CVRD 2022 Budget Update
The CVRD Board has finished final deliberation on the 2022 CVRD Budget as of 23 Mar 2022. The Area G Saltair Gulf Islands increase over 2021 has worked out to 0.95%. This increase may vary between Saltair and Gulf Islands depending on the services that each Area G community participates in and the BC Assessment decrease in Managed Forest assessments that will reflect on the residential taxation with a minimal increase.
Forbes Hall - Generator
I am pleased to announce that $25,000 of the Area G Saltair/Gulf Islands Community Works Funds (Gas tax) 3.0 has been allocated towards a generator for Forbes Hall. Forbes Hall is an Emergency Reception Centre and having the generator on hand during an emergency will provide the community with a safe and secure shelter for residents and visitors in the event of an emergency. A bit hard to imagine all of you swimming to the Frank Jameson Community Centre in Ladysmith or the Cowichan Community Centre in Duncan.
Thetis Island Wharf (Thetis Island & Hudson Island)
I am also pleased to announce that under the 2022 Thetis Island Wharf Budget $116,000 of the Area G Saltair/Gulf Islands Community Works Funds 3.0 has been allocated towards the Thetis Island Wharf Revitalization project.
Best regards,
Lynne Smith
