Derelict Mooring Lines...

We, Ken and Genny Redman, went out on our boat Saturday and our prop got totally fouled up with an old mooring that had sunk. Our engine stopped as we could not go forward or in reverse. So, we were drifting, and Ken was trying to pull our boat back to the mooring buoy.
We had one good Samaritan from Telegraph Harbour Marina who came and helped us tie back onto the mooring buoy and Peter Luckham also came and helped us. We spent an hour diving, and we did get all the old rope cut off. There was a lot of rope plus a piece of garbage and the old mooring was tied with a go-cart tire. I have sent photos that I hope will be posted on the community website. This is a very good reason for us all to help clean up our harbour as all the debris is a hazard to all boaters. If you have an old mooring buoy that has sunk, it is your responsibility to take care of what is left from the mooring.
