Hello Islanders,
My name is Peter Luckham, I am one of the currently elected Islands Trust Trustees for the Thetis Island Trust area. Many of you know me from my 34 years living on the island. There are also a fair number of you who are new to the island, and we may not have had the opportunity to meet. This message is an invitation to all of you to meet and discuss Islands trust and to seek your support on Election Day.
In keeping with what appears to be a Thetis Island tradition of light campaigning, I will not be posting placards or going door to door and intrude on your privacy. However, I would be pleased to receive invitations from individuals, families and small groups if you would like me to come and knock on your door for a conversation. Over the next few weeks, I plan on spending time outside our community centre to provide drop in opportunities.
It is possible I will also host a zoom meeting if there is an interest to meet for a virtual dialogue.
If anyone on the island would like to organize an all-candidates’ debate, I would be available. Typically, such events are organized by non-partisan groups. Let me know so we can figure out a time and date that suits all the candidates.
I will be attending Trust Council October 20-22, and plan to start my campaign discussion opportunities on Friday September the 23rd. I am setting the following dates for drop-ins and will be available by appointment on most other days leading up to the election for discussions or meetings with you.
Friday September 23rd 11:00 to 1:00
Saturday September 24th 10:00 to 2:00
Wednesday September 28th 11:00 to 1:00
Friday September 30th 11:00 to 1:00
Saturday October 1st 10:00 2:00
Tuesday October 4th 4:30 to 6:30
Thursday October 6th 11:00 to 1:00
Saturday October 8th 10:00 to 2:00
Monday October 10th 4:30 to 6:30
Thursday October 13th 10:00 2:00
Saturday October 15th, Election Day.
Please phone or email me to arrange a visit to your home for a door knocking engagement. 250-252-0758 or VA7DVR@gmail.com

My friend is looking to catch a ride to Nanaimo on the 2:50 or the 4:45 ferry from Thetis on September 25. She would walk on the Thetis ferry and would be happy to help with gas money.
Please let me know if you can help out by emailing me: carolinecarncross@live.com.
Thanks!
Caroline
A group of us are adding WiFi at both ends of the ferry, Thetis and Chemainus. Some have realized they have twice or more x's the data just for the ferry lineup.
The cost per person obviously drops with more involved.
If you are interested, email me, David, at littleislander@portonmail.com
Thank you for joining us for yesterday’s meeting about internet and cell connectivity on Thetis Island. We appreciate your interest and participation in this project! Your feedback will help us create a Community Connectivity Plan that makes sense for Thetis & Penelakut.
I’ve attached the slides that were presented at the meeting. You’ll also find more resources and videos on connectivity and our project on the website at https://www.planyourcowichan.ca/connect.
If you were unable to attend the event, or if you have additional comments you’d like to provide, we’ve created a survey that mimics the discussion we had at the event, which is open until September 20: https://www.planyourcowichan.ca/connect/survey_tools/community-connectivity-survey. You’re also welcome to send your thoughts and questions to me by email.
Thank you again for your participation. We will keep you updated as the project progresses. Have a great day!
Cheers,

Misha, the cat is back.
We were thrilled to be called to a neighbor's house to retrieve our cat, who had been found wandering in their yard. Our thanks to all who had been keeping an eye out for him, much appreciated.
