With greatly appreciated support by the Thetis Island Community Fund, a new Public Access AED has now been installed outside on the Pilkey Point Firehall at Lot 207 (between Valdez and Trincomali Roads).
If you witness a cardiac arrest, have someone immediately dial 9-1-1 and the Ambulance Dispatcher will direct the caller to initiate CPR (middle of chest, push hard and fast, about 110 times a minute). Grab the Public Access Defibrillator from the alarmed cabinet on the outside corner of the firehall and return to the patient. The unit has visual and audio instructions, and the Dispatcher will also guide you through the procedures. Continue CPR and follow the Dispatcher’s instructions until the fire department arrives and the FRs take over.
Don’t hesitate…you can make a difference!
