Canada Day ~ July 1st Sail Past

The July 1st Sail Past is on again and fast approaching!  Decorate your boats with some Canadian spirit and come enjoy an afternoon on the water sailing/cruising around Penelakut and Thetis. 

1:30pm: Depart from Thetis Island Marina 
1st Pitstop: Tent Island 
2nd Pitstop: Penelakut Spit 

Cruise continues up the east side of Thetis, around north cove and down the west side. 
Regroup and wrap up at Thetis Island Marina.

For the young at heart who enjoy water balloons and squirt gun fun… come on back!  Dust off your launchers, prep your armour and waterproof your electronic devices.  Those wishing to enjoy a dry tame cruise can simply display a white flag or towel to signify they are not armed.  

All ages and boats welcome.  Let’s keep this fun island tradition alive and not hesitate to show our pride of this fine country we call home! 

The Sail Past will take place rain or shine.

Thetis Island Improvement District AGM and Election Update

The Thetis Island Improvement District will hold its Annual General Meeting on Saturday July 10th at 11 AM, Via Zoom. 

This public meeting is to receive the audited financial statements for 2020, to report on the operations of the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department, the Improvement District, and whatever other items of business may be raised. 

A call for nominations to fill two (2) trustee positions was posted on May 28th and none were received. Incumbent trustees Tom Anderson and Andy Lamb had both agreed to stand for another three (3) year term.

Details on how to join the call and how the meeting will proceed will be posted to eSPOKES no later than June 26th, 2021.

Grow Your Own Mushrooms!

New product available for preview this Saturday at Jollity Farm from our
friends at Foragers Galley.

Perhaps you remember these adventurous young men sailing into our
harbour 9 years ago? They biked around discovering farmed, roasted and
foraged foods on our little island. Then they cooked up a feast aboard
their vessel and made a wonderful little video about their trip. You can

You will be able to grow your own fresh mushrooms at home, with the
varieties listed below, and your kit comes with everything you need:
Blue Oyster / Lion's Mane / Pink Oyster / Reishi

If you prefer to order dried or fresh we'll be adding those options to
our weekly offerings soon. We will be offering Grow Your Own Mushroom
Kits for sale at the farm beginning on Saturday, June 26. Come by this
weekend to check out the samples, learn more and place an order.

Today - Last Day to Book Your Vaccination on Thetis

Today, Tuesday, is the last day before the Thetis Vaccination Clinic starts.  If you haven't yet booked, there is still room on Thursday, June 17, but if you run into trouble with the booking, we have only until 2:30 this afternoon to help you if we can. Remember, this is the last clinic here on Thetis.  If you miss it, you will have to travel elsewhere at a later date.

Book online if you can.  You need your Personal Health Number (PHN) as well as your registration confirmation code.  Or you can book by phone. The call centre booking number is 1-833-838-2323. The booking agents are
not always in BC and will not know where Thetis Island is.  (The postalcode for Thetis is V0R 2Y0.)  If you are told that you need to wait eight weeks, be aware that if you received your first shot here in April
VIHA has made special  arrangements so that you can get your second shot this week...at seven weeks from your first.

If you have trouble getting booked online or by phone, let us know immediately by email with your PHN BEFORE 2:30 and we will try to sort it out for you.
