Hello Thetis Islanders,
Just a friendly reminder that you’re warmly invited to join us for a special community screening of 'Snk̛míp Dig Deeper' on Sunday, June 22nd at 7 PM at Forbes Hall.
Hosted by the Thetis Island Nature Conservancy (ThINC) and Community Climate Resilience (CCR), this powerful feature-length documentary explores the restoration of a wetland that uncovered the site of an ancient Sinixt village - and the profound collaboration that followed between Indigenous and settler communities.
Co-directed by Autonomous Sinixt Matriarch Marilyn James and settler conservationist Lorna Visser, the film is a moving reflection on land stewardship, cultural resilience, and reconciliation.
Event Details:
Date: Sunday, June 22
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Forbes Hall
Discussion to follow | Admission by donation
We hope to see you there for this important community event and meaningful conversation.
Warmly,
ThINC & CCR Teams

We are still holding at HIGH FIRE DANGER CLASS and the outlook for this coming week does not look like we will get any moisture. This means that all gas powered equipment and metal bladed equipment used near woods, bush or grass must not be operated after 1 pm in the afternoon and a two hour fire watch posted.
For wildfire safety on our island, please comply with the regulations. We are already getting complaints that some people don’t know the rules.
Let’s get through this fire season unscathed.

Thanks to Guy Counsell and his chainsaw, Bill Dickie and Vicki Walker for removing debris, the Lawrence Valley Loop trail is once again open. And thanks also to Trail Stewards Nan Beals and Sue French for alerting us to the situations which needed attention. The trails are there for us all to walk on and enjoy the beauty of our island home.

1:00pm - 3:00pm Drop In at the Sea Life Centre (all ages)
Location: Telegraph Harbour Marina
Hidden along British Columbia’s rich and biodiverse waters lives a fascinating, and often overlooked, inhabitant: the Graceful Decorator Crab. These clever crustaceans have developed an ingenious and creative survival strategy: they blend in with their surroundings by attaching bits of seaweed, sponges and even nudibranch eggs to themselves!
Come on by to the Sea Life Centre this Saturday from 1-3pm for this week’s Creature Feature! See if you can spot this camouflaged species hanging out in the Seaquarium this summer and checkout their unique style!
All ages welcome!

To everyone who ordered blueberries, we have received your requests and
are submitting the order to our pal Ivan on Monday.
Thanks so much for your important part in strengthening our local food
systems and supporting regenerative agriculture.
We will get a tentative date that we can pick up the blueberry order so
we will pass that along thru a group email soon.
