Water trucks cost $850 a load and if our wells run dry that is the likely choice for replacing our water supply. That is a big cost to absorb. How much water is in our aquifer(s)? How do we find out? What are our options?
On March 22, Community Climate Resilience and Thetis Island Nature Conservancy is launching our "Nature of Water" series, we are hosting a series of events focusing on our water resources. The event will feature a discussion of our project, a short film "What the Water Tells Us", and a keynote address "Dinosaur Pee and the Future of Thetis Island's Water" by David Slade.
A key part of the project is to address areas that are important to Island residents. Please fill out our survey. The survey can be found in the latest Thetis Island Quarterly or in the foyer of Forbes Hall. The drop box for completed surveys is also in the foyer of Forbes Hall.
We look forward to seeing you!

Outdoor Fire Permits for the month of April are now available for yard waste burns and evening campfires. You must follow the Venting Index regulations for all yard waste burns.
Go to the www.thetisislandfire.ca website and choose Fire Permits from the menu on the left side of the page. This will take you to the on-line application form.
Please allow 48 hours for your Fire Permit application to be processed and a reply will be sent to you.
All outdoor fires on Thetis Island are required to have a Fire Permit from April 1st to October 31st. During periods of HIGH or EXTREME Fire Danger, permits will be rescinded until the danger is lowered. Permits may be issued on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, depending upon the conditions and fire weather forecast.
