TIPA wants to thank our community for your continued support of the returnable bottles system. Your generosity has funded many different opportunities such as skating at the Fuller Lake Arena, new books for our library, and even the Nanaimo Science Centre’s mobile science lab for our students!
We want to remind everyone that milk and plant based milk containers are now refundable and are accepted along with your bottles and cans! Only containers purchased after the start date of the program will be accepted. We greatly appreciate your attention to well rinsed containers and careful sorting of your refundable containers from your other recycling! It makes all the difference for those handling these containers as well as for our little one room school!

Wondering what to do with that pile of branches?
Frustrated with aligning your schedule and the venting index?
Looking for a Greener Way Out with a little Work Out
Rather than a "SmokeOut"?
Maybe Thetis Resident Woody, the Wood Chuck (aka a trailer mounted Wood Chipper) could be your Answer. Yes, Woody resides on Thetis, ready and available to serve the islands chipping needs. Woody's 49Hp industrial wood chipping teeth are hungry for wood up to 12" diameter.
Woody's average hour typically converts a neatly stacked accessible VW Bug sized branch pile into wood chips ready for compost or ground cover.
One hour minimum $125/hr
For a Chipping Good Time with Woody

Thetis Island Elementary School is currently looking for donations of water bottles, if you have any extras lying around. We are also looking for tray tables (the kind with stand-up legs that you might use for breakfast in bed) so kids can have a "desk" while sitting on the floor. If you have either of these things to donate, feel free to just drop it at the front door of the school.
Thank you!

If you have moved to Thetis in the last two years, but haven't contacted me about inclusion in the Thetis Island Phone Book, would you please consider doing so? I am almost finished assembling the data for the 2022 version of the book (it comes out about every two years) so if you've been meaning to contact me but haven't yet, please do.
Being in the book isn't just a social thing - the phone book is what the Fire Department uses when there's a call-out, to get a quick sense of who is at the address where the emergency is happening, and what possible needs they might want to prepare for. Or if you're a part-time islander, they may need to contact you if there is some damage at your property.
If you will allow us to include your information, please email me at veronicashelford@gmail.com or call at 250-246-1509. And soon please? I'd like to get this finished. But even if you miss the book, please still let me know so that you can be in the database. That's the back-up source for the fire department if you aren't in the book.
Thank you!
- Veronica Shelford
REMINDER: The AGM for the Thetis Island Marine Association (TIMA) is set for Saturday, March 5, 7:00pm at Forbes Hall.
PLEASE NOTE that this is a pivotal meeting as it will decide the future of TIMA. The present executive have been involved for 15 years and are ready to step down. If new people don't come forward to fill at least 3 positions, TIMA will fold.
If you are presently a boat owner, or plan to be in the future ; if marine safety in the harbour is important to you ; if you care about environmental protection or the general beauty of the harbour , then please attend this meeting. Get involved or at least give your input. Although TIMA has limited potential to enforce regulations, it is at least a local island body to voice our needs. The collapse of TIMA would be a huge loss to our community.
