Hello:
It has come to our attention that island residents are receiving phone calls from a polling firm that asks questions about Islands Trust and the Policy Statement. We wish to advise you that this is not on behalf of the Islands Trust.
We are currently engaging on the 2022/23 proposed budget with an online survey (follow the link for details on tonight’s budget webinar). We will be beginning engagement on the Policy Statement Amendment Project (Islands 2050) in February.
Thank you,
Islands Trust
Hello all.
Our paper cutter is dull and is in need of a good sharpening!
Does anyone on the island have the tools and know-how to do this? If so, please write: charlotte@thetisislandnatureconservancy.org
Thanks!
Charlotte

This includes delivery to your property on Thetis.

There's a box (not a large one) needing pick-up from Island Blue in Victoria, for the Fire Department. Is anyone currently down there or going to be, and coming back in the next 5 days? If so, and if you could pick this up for us, please let me know at
veronicashelford@gmail.com
or 250-246-1509
Thank you!
On Friday, January 28th Thetis Elementary school will be going on a field trip. There will be six cars travelling on the 10:50 ferry to Chemainus and taking the 2:20 ferry back. We just wanted the community to be aware in case you are travelling that day.
Thanks. 🙂

I’m surprised that this has not been posted by someone more involved than I but the proposed budget for next year's island trust is out and there are significant increases and significant tax increases involved. They are asking for our input via another survey. (Surprisingly, most of my friends have heard nothing about the survey, as I guess the communications process is not ideal)
So, If you are interested there is limited time to respond. Information and link to the survey is on this page from the trust below.

Thetis Island writers Gary Geddes and Ann Eriksson both have new books out. Gary's book of four previously published long poems, The Ventriloquist, is a scathing indictment of war and its ravages, and a testament to the power of poetic narrative. It can be ordered through Rocks Mills Press.
Urgent Message from a Hot Planet: Navigating the Climate Crisis is Ann's third ecological literacy book for younger readers published by Orca Book Publishers. For readers 12 years and up, Urgent Message looks at the science behind global heating and its impacts, illuminates its root causes, provides achievable solutions and shares examples of how people are learning to exist on finite planet Earth. It honours the efforts of the millions of youth and adults from around the world who are working tirelessly to make a difference. Elizabeth May, Federal Green Party MP for Saanich-Gulf Islands, calls the book 'a toolbox for hope.' It's available in paperback or digital formats through your favourite bookseller.
If you'd like a signed copy or either book, contact Ann and Gary directly at 250-246-8176
