Cat has been Found

Hi, I found my cat high up a tree. She could not climb down because she was too young. After 2 days and nights in the rain and with no food or water, Chris Call came and climbed the tree to rescue her.

I am so grateful for his kind, considerate actions. Chris refused payment and said thats what community does....help each other. Thank you!

CVRD Area G Saltair/Gulf Islands CWF 2.0 Allocation - $8,100

I am pleased to announce that $8,100 from the CVRD Area G CWF (Gas Tax -Community Works Fund)2.0 allocation has been allocated to the Thetis Island Community Association towards a retractable wall at Forbes Hall. Upon reviewing the CWF 2.0 it came to my attention that $8,100 had not been allocated. Working with Ann Dickie and the CVRD Finance Department it was determined that the funds could be allocated towards the retractable wall for the Hall. On the 9 Dec 2020 the CVRD Board finalized the authorization for this allocation.

Having a retractable wall varies the usage by the community and others.

Thank you to all those that have assisted me in a very slow process with a great outcome.

Volunteers Needed for Painting and Staining at Forbes Hall

Howdy friends and neighbors

Even through this COVID mask, I think I can safely say that I still smell the Soups On that are brewing. Yum yum in my tum.

By as early as this Wednesday, PCH will be ready for a number of volunteers to paint walls and stain siding. Masks are required, physical distancing required at all times possible (given the specifics of the tasks).

So if that cabin fever itch has ya yearning for an outing, get yer fingers scratching at the keyboard ‘n’ send me, Greg Gall a note via email with the times and dates you want to get a breath of COVID mask filtered, "fresh Pacific air" and let me know when you'd like to help with these opportunities down at Forbes Hall.

And a Merry Christmas

To you all

From Greg Gall

Thanks for all the help you have delivered to our community hall.

Christmas Lights

Both Virginia and I have vivid recall from Christmas in the 1950s when our parents packed us in the family car to drive around our hometowns to view Christmas lights. A simpler time, and this was a tradition of that era.

In keeping with this memory, we set out on a drive around the main roads of Thetis Island to see what we could find. A small island with a limited population, many of whom live in homes well off the route. It was an enjoyable ride and numerous displays of festivity were found.

We thank all those creative and spirited folks who have taken the time to light up this season -- particularly in this year of COVID Christmas & New Year.
